Maybe no one will ask why I did this. Maybe they will. But I figured I’d answer this anyway. The truth was that getting from my first book The Deathday Letter to my second book was something of a trial. Imagine a squirrel birthing an elephant. Or something like that. Along the way, I wrote a couple of other books, polished them up, and then sat on them. Because the truth is that publishing works slowly. My second book has still got some time to go before it comes out, and I know that my editor isn’t going to want to see anything else from me until book 2 is 100% done.
So I found myself in a bit of a publishing limbo. I could definitely write another book, but what would I do with it? I also found that I’d grown bored online. My regular blog was repetitive, and Twitter felt a little like high school. That’s when this idea came about. I’d write a serial novel. A couple of chapters a month. And to make it interesting, I’d include a section for writers. A place to chat about stuff beyond the story. A place where I could drop first drafts and explain why I made one choice over another, and get feedback on what sucked.
I’m probably a little crazy. Probably a lot crazy. But I’m really excited to do this, and I hope you all will have fun too.
Feel free to ask questions or tear me a new one or point out all my grammatical failings. I’m not charging for any of this, though donations are welcome, but I’d still like to put my best foot forward. No one wants to read crap, right?
So, yeah…here we go.
